Singapore Botanic Garden
新加坡植物园
Chinese Ink on Rice Paper/宣纸水墨画
97 x 60 cm
This evocative Chinese ink painting captures the tranquil beauty of the Singapore Botanic Gardens (新加坡植物园). Through a harmonious blend of ink and soft color washes, Shen brings to life a serene landscape dominated by elegant trees, a gently winding path, and the iconic pavilion nestled amidst the greenery. The work emphasizes the fusion of traditional Chinese brushwork with Singapore’s very first UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting the distinct character of the tropical flora and fauna — including the prominent black swan by the water’s edge. A stone inscribed with “Botanic Garden” grounds the scene in its real-world location, reinforcing the cultural and natural heritage it represents. This piece stands as a poetic tribute to Singapore’s lush botanical legacy, rendered with both precision and grace.
